SENIOR SERVICE PROJECT

Senior Service Project is a hands-on experience for all seniors. A 3-week block of time has been structured into the senior school year for the students to go out into the community to serve with compassion. Seniors and the Gibault campus minister choose project facilities which correspond to the student's interests and talents. The students are expected to report to the facility just as an employee would.

Students keep a journal during the project and reflect on each day. After the project, select seniors make a presentation to the entire student body explaining their experience. Many of the seniors cite the project as one of the most valuable educational experiences of their lives.

Recently, senior service project sites have included hospitals, schools, police departments, nursing homes, and special education facilities. We are particularly proud of the seniors who went to Bolivia this year to help the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, the Ruma sisters, in their work with the poor of LaPaz, Bolivia.
